Introduction
to
The
Institute of System Information and Control
Establishment:
The Institute of System Information and Control was established
for educating graduated students to become professional
engineers in system integration,
specifically, in the area of system informatics and system
control. System informatics is a discipline
that applies technologies such as system
engineering, problem solving, modeling, control, and artificial
intelligence to solve the
problems in various engineering/manufacturing
systems. System control is a discipline that applies
technologies such as mechatronics,
control, sensing, mechanism, dynamics and
artificial intelligence to achieve better performance in various
mechatronic systems.
Engineers with such system integration
disciplines are highly demanded in the industry in product
development or in manufacturing
process. We feel confident that all students
go through our master program will be well educated with strong
disciplines in system
informatics and/or system control.
Positioning:
The institute focuses its professional expertise mainly in the
area of system integration. Be more specific, system informatics
discipline will focus on the area of manufacturing system
execution and automation to which the technologies in
manufacturing,
automation, software engineering, database
and artificial intelligence would be integrated. On the other
hand, control discipline will
focus on the area of mechatronic system
control, to which the technologies in automatic control,
precision sensing, computer vision,
servo mechanism, and artificial intelligence
would be integrated. Both directions will mainly aim to educate
capable engineers for
those
hi-tek
industries, such as semiconductor, optoelectronic, communication
and MEMS. Although these two directions are
somewhat
different in expertise, but are closely related. A student major
in either one should also take the other as his/her minor. It is
such
discipline combination that we would emphasize and would be
proud of to offer to benefit the students.
Backgrounds of Students to Enter
Students with background in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical
Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Automation Engineering,
Information Management or Computer Science are welcome to enter
this Institute of System Information and Control as long as they
are interested in system integration technologies as described
above and would like to be system engineers after graduation.
